Portrait of a Place: Stone Barns
|
The mission of Stone Barns Center is to create a healthy and sustainable food system that benefits us all. We operate an 80-acre farm and work to: Increase public awareness of healthy, seasonal and sustainable food;
train farmers in resilient, restorative farming techniques; educate children about the sources of their food, and prepare them to steward the land that provides it. |

Coney Island Dream is a great example of a portrait of a place. It tries to explore Coney Island when it is preparing for an approaching winter storm. The filmmaker, Joshua Brown, doesn't try to capture everything that Coney Island is. Instead he focuses his camera on a small piece of what Coney Island is like and is able to share something profound in the process. |
Our Shot Lists
Before our trip to Stone Barns we prepared a Shot List for our Non-Fiction films. The shot list is a film tool used to make sure we capture everything we need on the camera. Since Stone Barns is such a huge, awesome, amazing place, each group tried to focus their ideas on one small part of what we will experience there this Fall.
